| dc.description | Programs geared at supporting and resocializing street children in Brazil are not accomplishing the expected results: the number of children in the streets is ever growing and the children's rights continue to be violate. Protective legislation and re-socialization programs geared towards "street children" need strong societal support in order to be effective. Considering that social representations elaborated by a group guide and justify group's behavior and communications towards the objects represent, we investigated how "street children" are represented by groups to whom they are more likely exposed: other children and adolescents who work in the streets, policemen and security guards, "street educators" and middle class children who study in schools near the "habitat" of these children. | en-US |
| dc.description | Os programas de apoio e ressocialização dos "meninos de rua", em sua maioria, não têm produzido os resultados esperados: o número de crianças nas ruas continua a crescer e os direitos desses meninos continuam a ser violados. Para que esses programas, bem como as políticas públicas dirigidas à ressocialização dos meninos e meninas de rua, possam ser eficazes, o apoio de diferentes atores sociais toma-se imprescindível. Considerando-se que as representações sociais elaboradas por um grupo orientam e justificam sua conduta frente aos objetos a que se referem, a presente pesquisa buscou investigar como os "meninos de rua" são representados por grupos aos quais estão mais freqüentemente expostos: meninos e meninas que trabalham nas ruas, policiais e seguranças, "educadores sociais" e meninos e meninas de classe média que estudam em colégios próximos às ruas de concentração de "meninos de rua". | pt-BR |
