dc.descriptionThis article summarizes a research about the pastoril. Performed during Christmas festivities, this musical genre first appears in Brazil as a result of the mutual influence of cultures brought by colonization. Family utopia, idyll and idealization of nature mingle with popular Catholicism and its promises of devotion to build the kind of symbols that permeates these festivities. During the nineteenth century however, it began to be identified more and more with urban popular culture. Its popularity began to decline at the end of the century and almost disappeared in the twentieth-century when mass midian were implanted in Brazil. Severances show up in this trajectory when its features began to split up and be combined with other events and performances. The author emphasizes that such severances coincided with structural changes in Brazilian society. The objective of the author is to contribute to develope methods of research about popular traditions.en-US
dc.descriptionEste trabalho sumariza uma pesquisa sobre pastoril. Encenado durante o período natalino, esse gênero musical apareceu no Brasil como resultado da mútua influência de culturas que a colonização trouxe. Utopia familiar, idílio e idealização da natureza fundiam-se ao catolicismo popular e a seus votos de devoção, para construir o imaginário que permeia as festividades. No século XIX, fez mais intensamente parte da cultura popular urbana. Sua popularidade decresceu no fim do século e quase desapareceu no século XX, na fase em que era implantada a comunicação de massa. Na trajetória evidenciaram-se rupturas quando sua forma se fragmentou na prática e recombinou-se em eventos e performances. A autora destaca que as rupturas coincidiram com mudanças estruturais na sociedade brasileira. Através de planos interpretativos, aproxima o leitor dos significados de diálogos e músicas e põe em questão alguns fatos da cultura brasileira, pretendendo contribuir para desenvolver métodos de investigação de tradições populares.pt-BR
