dc.descriptionO objetivo deste artigo é investigar a relação de causalidade entre comércio externo e crescimento na economia brasileira no período 1947-2006. Para isso, aplica-se o teste de não causalidade de Granger, conforme a metodologia proposta por Toda e Yamamoto (1995). Para assegurar a confiabilidade dos resultados, diversas especificações alternativas são empregadas. Entre os resultados obtidos, o mais robusto é o de que as exportações Granger-causam positivamente o crescimento econômico.pt-BR
dc.descriptionThe aim of this paper is to investigate the causal relationship between international trade and growth for the case of Brazil in the period of 1947-2006. For this, we apply the procedure proposed by Toda and Yamamoto (1995) to test for the Granger non-causality hypotheses. In order to ensure the reliability of the results, the non-causality test is carried out beyond the standard bivariate model and several alternative specifications are employed. We find robust evidence that exports positively Granger-cause GDP.en-US
