dc.descriptionThe aim of this article is to analyse if interest rate is a useful device to keep price stability. Post keynesians and Keynes Theory do not recommend this monetary policy to control inflation. They think that inflation is a supply-side phenomenon and interest rate act via demand-side. In this way, increases in the interest rate reduce inflation symptoms, but do not eliminate inflation cause. According to Post Keynesian theory as there are many kinds of inflation the government should have many anti-inflationary policies: each different kind of inflation should be eliminated by a different policy.en-US
dc.descriptionO artigo discute se a taxa de juros deve ser utilizada para manter a estabilidade de preços. A teoria de Keynes e os desenvolvimentos pós-keynesianos não recomendam a utilização da taxa de juros como instrumento para manter o controle da inflação. Identificam que a inflação na maioria dos casos é um problema do lado da oferta e que a taxa de juros incide sobre o lado da demanda. A idéia pós-keynesiana é que uma elevação da taxa de juros atacaria os sintomas da inflação e não as suas causas. A proposição pós-keynesiana é que existem vários tipos de inflação e para cada tipo deve ser utilizado um instrumento antiinflacionário diferente, sempre buscando atacar a(s) causa(s) da inflação.pt-BR
