dc.descriptionEn las últimas décadas, el dengue en Venezuela ha sido reconocido como un problema de salud pública por el número de casos anuales que se reportan. El estado Aragua por su ubicación geográfica y clima, presenta casos de dengue todo el año. Según la vigilancia epidemiológica circulan los cuatros serotipo de virus dengue (VDEN). Dada la importancia de esta enfermedad en la región, se planteó genotipicar los cuatro serotipos de dengue mediante un análisis filogenético de la secuencia que codifica la proteína de envoltura (E). Esto con la finalidad de identificar los genotipos que han circulado en la entidad (entre 1987 y 2008), determinar si ha existido una co-circulación de varios genotipos del mismo serotipo. Para tal fin se analizaron y editaron un conjunto de secuencias disponibles en el GENBANK de algunos serotipos que han sido reportados para el estado Aragua y otras regiones del mundo (como referencia). El análisis filogenético determinó que el genotipo circulante de DENV -1 es el V, de DENV -2 es el Asiático/Americano, de DENV -3 fue el III y del DENV -4 fue el II. Se observó que no existió ninguna co-circulación de varios genotipos. Se observó poca variabilidad genética en el área.

dc.descriptionIn the last decades, dengue in Venezuela has been acknowledged as a public health problem since the numerous annual cases reported. Dengue cases are present in Aragua state all year round due to this state geographic location and weather, and according to epidemiological surveillance the four dengue virus serotypes (DENV) circulate in the state. Given the prevalence of this disease in the region, the aim of this study was the genotypification of the four dengue serotypes by means of a phylogenetic analysis of the sequence codified by the protein envelope (E). This was done in order to identify the genotypes that have circulated in the state (between 1987 and 2008), and determine whether there has been a co-circulation of several strains of the same serotype. A set of sequences of some serotypes reported for Aragua state and other world regions, and available in the GenBank were analyzed and published (as reference). Phylogenetic analysis determined that the circulating genotype for the DENV -1 was the V, for DENV -2 was the Asian / American, for DENV -3 was the III, and for DENV-4 was the II. No co-circulation of several genotypes was found. Little genetic variability was observed in the area.
