dc.descriptionLas áreas que envuelven la periferia de una nación, generalmente asociadas al límite se denominan fronteras. En Latinoamérica, prevalece la dualidad en cuanto a su concepción: por un lado son lugares de transición, intercambio e integración y por otro son subestimadas como áreas estratégicas de seguridad y defensa, suerte de barrera de resguardo que en realidad refleja una visión geopolítica desentonada con el desarrollo nacional y regional; el límite es percibido como un elemento formal que tiende a variar y ajustarse de acuerdo a la dinámica que se teje a ambos lados de su ubicación. El presente trabajo tiene como propósito identificar el valor geoestratégico que exhibe el Macizo o Páramo El Tamá por su ubicación en la frontera Venezolano – Colombiana; por tanto, representa un adelanto de investigación sustentado a partir de la perspectiva de tipo documental. Incluye una breve reseña acerca de la concepción del término frontera y límite además de precisar aspectos históricos, físico-naturales y geopolíticos distintivos del área seleccionada. Se ha advertido que tanto la condición geográfica como la complejidad ambiental y geoestratégica de la región demandan un análisis más exhaustivo de la dinámica espacial; al final, no se entablan conclusiones, en cambio se adelantan algunas ideas preliminares.

dc.descriptionThe areas that wrap the periphery of a nation, generally associated to the limit they are denominated boundaries. In Latin America, the duality prevails as for its conception: on one hand they are transition places, exchange and integration and for other they are underestimated as strategic areas of security and defense, luck of receipt barrier that in fact reflective an out of tune geopolitical vision with the national and regional development; the limit is perceived as a formal element that spreads to vary and to be adjusted according to the dynamics that one knits to both sides of its location. The present work has as purpose to identify the value geostrategic that exhibits the Macizo o Paramo El Tamá for its location in the Venezuelan – Colombian border; therefore, it represents an investigation advance sustained starting from the perspective of documental type. It includes a brief review about the conception of the term frontier and limit besides specifying aspects historical, physical-natural and geopolitical distinguishing characteristics of the selected area. It has been noticed that as much the geographical condition as the environmental complexity and geostrategic of the area demand a more exhaustive analysis of the space dynamics; at the end, conclusions are not begun, on the other hand they are ahead some preliminary ideas.
