Democracia, Liberalismo e Republicanismo: Tensões no pensamento de Immanuel Kan

Abstract

Nosso trabalho orienta-se a elucidar as intrincadas relações entre republicanismo, democracia e liberalismo no pensamento de Inmanuel Kant e sua relevância para nossos dias. Um dos eixos centrais de nosso trabalho consiste em pôr ênfase na categoria de liberdade, entendendo que tal conceito é o significante primordial da cosmovisão Kantiana. Nesse sentido, apostamos por dar prioridade à noção de liberdade positiva, tanto no plano político como no plano moral. Outro dos eixos centrou-se em certas tensões entre Kant e a tradição liberal.

Our work is aimed at elucidating the intricate relationships among republicanism, democracy and liberalism in the thought of Immanuel Kant and its relevance for our present time. One of the cornerstones of our work lays stress on the category of freedom, with the understanding that this concept is the primary signifier of the Kantian worldview. Therefore, we are committed to giving priority to the notion of positive freedom, both in a political and in a moral level. Another of our core ideas focused on some sort of tension between Kant and the liberal tradition.
