Los campesinos brasileños no hicieron la revolución, pero...: De trombas y formoso a las ligas camponesas

Abstract

La historia de los campesinos de América Latina ha sido y es objeto permanente de preocupación entre historiadores, sociólogo y antropólogos, entre otros. Entre las cuestiones que han despertado interés está la de explicar qué estructuras sociales y situaciones históricas producen revoluciones campesinas o, al contrario, las inhiben. El siguiente artículo procura abordar los campesinos brasileños a partir de preguntas tales como: ¿Cuándo y cómo la resignación se convierte en rebelión? ¿Qué hace posible ese pasaje? ¿Cuándo la rebelión deviene revolución? ¿Cuál es la estructura agraria más favorable para la insurgencia? O, si se prefiere, ¿por qué se rebelan los campesinos? Pregunta que se complementa con la que se sitúa en su antípoda: ¿por qué no se rebelan los campesinos sujetos a relaciones de dominación y explotación?

The story of the peasants of Latin America has been (and is) the subject of ongoing concern among historians, sociologist and anthropologists, among others. Among the issues that have aroused the interest is to explain how social structures and historical situations produce peasant revolutions or, conversely, inhibit them. The following article seeks to address Brazilian peasants from questions such as: How and when resignation becomes rebelion? What makes it possible that passage? When the rebellion becomes revolution? What is the agrarian structure more favorable for the insurgency? Or, if you prefer, why the peasants revolt? Ask complemented with which is in its antipode: why not rebel peasants subject to relations of domination and exploitation?
