dc.description.abstractIn this brief paper the seasonal and solar cycle distribution of storms with sudden commencement is presented. A correlation between the number of geomagnetic storms by month and monthly sunspot numbers is observed. Also, a pronounced seasonal variation of the occurrence of intense geomagnetic storms and no dependence for moderate geomagnetic storms, which occur more frequently than the intense ones during the solar cycles.
