Antes de la ciencia: El sentido común en la obra de Alfred Schutz

Abstract

En este texto paso revista a las tesis de Alfred Schutz sobre el sentido común, reconstruyendo su posición en un doble sentido, genético y sistemático. En este marco, argumento que su posición va pasando de una consideración negativa del sentido común entendido como un modo de conocimiento distinto del científico y de cuyas cualidades está desprovisto, a una consideración positiva, que hace de él no sólo el suelo de todo otro modo de conocimiento (incluido el científico) sino también nuestro arraigo en el mundo de la actitud natural. Esta transformación significa un pasaje desde una perspectiva epistemológica hacia una ontológica.

In this paper I review the thesis of Alfred Schutz on common sense, reconstructing his position on the matter in two ways, genetic and systematic. In this context, I argue that his position has changed from a negative consideration of common sense understood as a way of knowledge other than the scientific knowledge, whose qualities it lacks, to be viewed positively, making it not only the soil of any other mode of knowledge (including science) but also our roots in the world of the natural attitude. This transformation implies a passage from an epistemological perspective towards an ontological one.
