| dc.description | Este estudo tem por objetivo analisar as paixões da alma e a moralidade na obra As Paixões da Alma, do filósofo René Descartes. Nessa obra, Descartes analisa as paixões da alma, opondo-as às ações da alma. Ele entende por ações da alma aqueles pensamentos que vêm da alma e dependem somente dela para se realizar. Já as paixões são espécies de percepções relacionadas à alma, diferentemente das percepções relacionadas ao corpo, como a fome, o calor e a sede. São exemplos de paixões da alma a alegria, a tristeza, a cólera e o amor. O estudo aborda a relação entre as paixões da alma e o ser humano, este último definido como união de duas substâncias distintas, a res cogitans e a res extensa, e se busca compreender em que consiste essa união. É analisado como as paixões da alma se relacionam com a moral cartesiana, com ênfase no controle dessas paixões. Além disso, o estudo foca no principal remédio para as paixões da alma, que é a generosidade, pois é por meio dela que o conhecimento e a virtude se fazem presentes. Segundo Descartes, é por meio da generosidade que as paixões se tornam benéficas ao ser humano, desse modo, as paixões não são ruins, elas são inclusive, úteis à vida, bastando apenas saber conduzi-las bem. | |
| dc.description | Abstract: The main objective of this dissertation is to analyze the passions of the soul and morality in the philosopher Rene Descartes book Passions of the soul. In this book, Descartes analyzes the passions of the soul as opposite to the actions of the soul. He holds that actions are those thoughts that come from the soul and depend only on the soul to become real. Passions, however are types of perceptions related to the soul, different from perceptions related to the body, like hunger, heat and thirst. Examples of passions of the soul are joy, sadness, anger and love. This study deals with the relationship between human beings and passions of the soul. Human beings are defined as the union of two distinct substances, the res cogitans and res extensa, and this study seeks to understand what this union consists of. We will analyze how the passions of the soul are related to cartesian morality, which emphasizes control over these passions. Furthermore, the study focuses on the main remedy for passion of the souls, which is generosity, for it is through it that knowledge and virtue appear. According to Descartes, it is through generosity that passions become beneficial to humans. Therefore, passions are not bad, they are even useful for life, if we know how to use them in a proper way. | |
