Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze the rain data at Meteorological Station of IAGUSP
in order to verify the hypothesis of increase tendencies in the monthly precipitation
values based on observed data from 1933 to 2012. For each month, linear adjustments were
performed using minimum squares methodology as well as correlation coefficient and Student
T-test for evaluating the precipitation tendency rates and consistency. The results of the linear
adjustments showed positive trends of total precipitation for every month, except for August,
indicating an increase of monthly precipitation through the last decades. With respect to the
correlation coefficient values, only January and March showed values higher than 0.4. On the
other hand, for the Student T-test, the months of January, February, March, July and
December had the hypothesis verified and indicated significant correlation.
