The paper presents a framework for organizational design and management based on a new methodological approach. It is built upon two topics: learning organization and complexity theory. Concepts, characteristics, and implications of the complexity theory as applied to learning organization study are presented, considering work system design as a human process of action and decision making. They are conceived as a nonlinear dynamic systems, self-organized and self-regulated organizations, built upon relationships, learning and innovation processes. The complex approach of organizations allows the deepening of questions about organization theory. It involves the rethinking of the way organizations and work are studied, defined and built.
