Propuesta de desarrollo urbano y núcleo de facilidades turísticas para playa Caldera

Abstract

Following the opening of Route 27 between San José and Playa Caldera in January, 2010, there have been high volumes of transit in this area which weren’t considered in the regional planning schemes. This project seeks to provide a comprehensive solution to the high demand of tourist facilities while generating jobs for the community. The project must deal with a situation which has been affecting many other coastal communities world wide: sea level rise. Both the master plan and the architectural project proposed aim to provide feasible and accesible solutions to this problem, which can be easily replicated in other projects that must deal with this same problem. To develop both proposals a detailed urban analysis of the communities of Playa Caldera and Mata de Limón was done, as well as a profound site analysis of the property where the Tourist Facilities Pavilion is located.
