dc.descriptionYouth and adult education has proven to be a powerful tool in the fight for the inclusion of minorities and against inequality in Brazil and several other countries, as indicates the documents from the Conference of Adult Education (CONFINTEA). In this paper, the challenge to introduce the LGBT population, especially transgender individuals, into the core of new studies and actions towards the dissemination of the practice has been given special attention. Qualitative studies that make evident the exclusion of the LGBT population in the education system and the need to gather both quantitative and qualitative data have been analyzed as a means to reaffirm the role of EJA as a fundamental strategy to guarantee the human right to education.
