The use of electromagnetic simulations has become an important methodology to design photonic devices. Associating these electromagnetic simulators with the optimization techniques it is possible to design complex structures. The aim of this work is a development of a new integrated optical filter for DWDM applications. This project was carried out by using the Finite Element Method associated with Genetic Algorithm and the numerical results show that the filter has high selectivity and low insertion losses and it is suitable to work in a DWDM system.
