Resumen
The healthcare regulation aims to promote equity of access, adjusting the offer of appointments and procedures available equitably, orderly and rational. This article presents the experience of implementing and one year of regulation of the specialized dental procedures in the Centres of Dental Specialties in Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Case description: A priority protocol was developed and training conducted for SISREG III system (Nacional System of Regulation, Ministry of Health, Brazil) for dentists and dental assistants. Endodontics (58%) and oral surgery (23%) were the most requested specialties. Comments: Children and adolescents were most benefited, accounting for nearly one third of referrals (31%). Pregnant women and the elderly now have guaranteed access to specialized dental treatment. The SISREG III system proved to be a suitable tool for the regulation of consultations. The expansion of the service, computerizing the dental offices and regulating all requests for the Centres of Dental Specialties are to plan for improvement of the management system. © 2016, Nucleo de Estudos da Saude do Adolescente.
