| dc.description | Resumo: Esta pesquisa se propõe investigar as trajetórias e os sentidos da oferenda encontrada pelo explorador Augustus Le Plongeon e sua esposa Alice Dixon Le Plongeon na Plataforma das Águias e Jaguares no sítio de Chichén Itzá, México, no final do século XIX. Ao realizar um histórico das peças, procuramos relacionar os objetos com os manuscritos, fotos, e informações recolhidas e produzidas por este casal de estudiosos numa abordagem que combine fontes de arquivo e coleções arqueológicas, para recuperar o contexto arqueológico de tal descoberta e assim propor uma interpretação da função e simbologia do conjunto de objetos que compunham a oferenda. Para isso, foram utilizados conceitos relacionados à prática ritual, ao ato de ofertar objetos a entes não humanos, bem como a própria ritualidade dos artefatos, e os itinerários percorridos por essas peças até a atualidade. O material foi trabalhado a partir da produção de um catálogo com fichas individuais das peças para uma organização e classificação. A partir desse trabalho com uma epistemologia construída pelo casal de exploradores no século XIX foi possível recuperar histórias, usos e reusos das peças em seus itinerários, e por fim propor uma análise dos sentidos antigos desse conjunto de objetos, ao perceber questões sociais e da cosmovisão da sociedade de Chichén Itzá materializados nesses artefatos | |
| dc.description | Abstract: This research proposes to investigate the trajectories and meanings of the offering found by the explorer Augustus Le Plongeon and his wife Alice Dixon Le Plongeon in the Platform of the Eagles and Jaguars in the site of Chichén Itzá, Mexico, at the end of the 19th century. In proposing a history of the pieces, we try to relate the objects with the manuscripts, photos, and information gathered and produced by these scholars in an approach that combines archival sources and archaeological collections, to recover the archaeological context of such discovery and thus make an interpretation of the function and symbology of the set of objects that made up the offering. We used concepts related to ritual practice, the act of offering objects to supernatural beings, as well as the rituals of the artifacts themselves, and the itineraries covered by these pieces up to the present time. The material was worked from the production of a catalog with individual for an organization and classification of the objects.
