| dc.description | Abstract: It was the object of this paper to analyse the superficial hardness of four commercial brands of dental amalgams (Ventura, Novalloy, New True Dentalloy and Dispersalloy) manipulated by three different operators. From each of these commercial brands, each operator confectioned five different test bodies, which were stored for periods of 7, 15, and 30 days at 37ºC. At the end of each period of time, superficial hardness measurements were taken, which were afterwards submitted to a statistical analysis. After a period of 30 days the test bodies were submitted to micro-structural analises. These analises were registered by means of photomicrographies. On analysis of the micro-structure, it was found that there were some differences in test bodies confectioned
from the same commercial brand by the sarne operator. The analysis of superficial hardness demonstrated that dental amalgam is influenced by the manipulation characteristics inherent in the operator | |
