| dc.description | Resumo: Este estudo analisa o romance As Minas de Prata, de José de Alencar, em seus contatos com as esferas política, histórica, e cultural. A partir dos debates entre os letrados brasileiros sobre os gêneros literários, investigaremos a perspectiva de Alencar sobre o romance histórico e os elementos que compõem a estrutura da sua narrativa: o épico, o histórico, e o folhetinesco. Num segundo momento, estudaremos como os aspectos estéticos articulam-se com a temática dos jesuítas e dos judeus, resultando na composição folhetinesca. Levando em conta a rede de interlocução de Alencar, apresentaremos como sua obra apropria-se das literaturas antijesuítica e antissemita em circulação, principalmente, na imprensa, transformando o romance-folhetim de Eugène Sue, O Judeu Errante, em paradigma para a confecção do romance alencariano. Essas releituras são possibilitadas pelas novas relações entre literatura, história e escrita jornalística, que estabelecem vínculos entre o romance-folhetim e os noticiários, artigos e estudos históricos publicados no mesmo suporte. Assim, trataremos o romance histórico de Alencar sob o prisma das suas relações com os periódicos na construção da identidade nacional | |
| dc.description | Abstract: This study aims at analyzing As Minas de Prata (The Silver Mines), by José de Alencar, in its contacts with the political, historical, and cultural spheres. Drawing from the discussions set forth by Brazilian scholars about literary genres, we will examine Alencar¿s perspective on the historical novel and the elements that make up the structure of his narrative: the epic, the historical, and the feuilletonistic. As a second step, we will study how the aesthetic aspects are linked to the thematic of the Jesuits and the Jews, resulting in the feuilletonistic composition. Taking into account Alencar¿s dialogue network, we will present how his work appropriates both the anti-Jesuit and anti-Semitic literature in circulation, especially in the press, converting the roman-feuilleton by Eugène Sue, O Judeu Errante (The Wandering Jew), to the paradigm for the making of Alencar¿s novel. Such readings are enabled due to the new relationships between literature, history and journalistic writing, which provide points of contact between the roman-feuilleton and the news, articles and historical studies published in the same support. Therefore, we will investigate the historical novel by such a writer through the prism of its relationship with the journals in the construction of the national identity | |
