| dc.description | Resumo: Filóstrato inaugura, na obra Vidas dos Sofistas, o termo `Segunda Sofística¿. Mesmo não sendo um autor exemplar no que tange às formulações conceituais, ao forjar um termo derivado, Filóstrato forçosamente enseja a pesquisa sobre o que vem a ser a Sofística propriamente dita. Convém, assim, elucidar a peculiar metodologia classificatória da obra Vidas (a única obra da Literatura Ocidental elaborada por um sofista que define a sua prática e que exibe diversas performances dos seus pares). Sábios primordiais assim como foram os filósofos, diferentes desses, os primeiros e mais ilustres sofistas do mundo grego lograram menor hesito na transmissão de suas ideias. Este fato explica porque são as definições filosóficas de `sofista¿ e `Sofística¿ as mais divulgadas. A partir deste quadro, parto das indicações da obra Vidas para refletir, primeiro, sobre o que seria a Segunda Sofística. Há consenso sobre sua significação? Trata-se de um termo que alude a diferentes épocas da Sofística? O que é Sofística? Quais os principais autores que usaram e definiram o termo `Sofística¿? O que difere filósofos e sofistas? Seria possível redefinir um termo? Em suma, são essas algumas das questões concernentes ao estudo, interpretação e tradução das Vidas dos Sofistas apresentados aqui | |
| dc.description | Abstract: Philostratus inaugurates in the work Lives of the Sophists the term `Second Sophistic¿. Even not being an epitome in relation to conceptual formulations, when he creates a derived term Philostratus necessarily instigates the research about what exactly the Sophistic is. It is therefore appropriate to elucidate the peculiar classification and methodology of the work Lives (the only work of Western literature produced by a sophist that defines his practice and displays various performances of their peers). Primordial sages as were the philosophers, different from these, the first and most illustrious sophists of the Greek world had a lower transmitting of their ideas. This fact explains why they are the philosophical definitions of `sophist¿ and `Sophistic¿ the most publicized. From this framework, delivery of work Lives indications to reflect first on what would be the Second Sophistic. There is consensus on its meaning? It is a term that refers to different times of Sophistic? What is Sophistic? What are the main authors who have used and defined the term `Sophistic¿? What differ philosophers and sophists? It would be possible to redefine a term? In short, these are some of the questions concerning the study, interpretation and translation of the Lives presented here | |
