dc.descriptionA study of the reduction of 2-ethyl-1-phenylprop-2-en-1-one (3) by Rhodotorula glutinis CCT 2182 in the presence and absence of XAD-7 resin is reported. The use of XAD-7 led to the corresponding (S)-alpha-methylketone 4 in high yield and enantiomeric excess.
