The classical and quantum creep rates of vortices pinned by columnar defects are calculated within the framework of continuum elastic theory. A general model is developed, which accounts simultaneously for the massive, dissipative, and Hall dynamics. The crossover temperature separating thermal and quantum regimes is determined by using perturbation theory around the thermal solution. The calculations are performed for anisotropic (flux-lines), as well as for layered (flux-pancakes) superconductors, The results obtained are compared with the available experimental data.
