The consequences of symmetry breaking in the integrable Heisenberg two-spin model are analyzed both in the quantum and classical contexts. We show that a one-to-one correspondence between quantum spectrum and classical periodic orbits can be established in the large spin limit: the spectrum, as a consequence of symmetry breaking in the interaction, exhibits an inflection point (two distinct curvatures). The classical counterpart of this behavior is the existence of two distinct classes of periodic orbits separated by a limiting orbit whose energy is precisely at the energy of the inflection point. Interestingly enough, this model presents a particular finite value of anisotropy parameter where the previously broken symmetry is restored causing a second inflection point in the spectra and corresponding change in the periodic orbits. We also give an explanation for the second transition.
