dc.description | The present study, was carried out with a sample of 70 Mexican and 70 Brasilian subjects of both sexes, 11 to 13 years old, to compare the mental structure of their self-concept. The self-concept questionnaire of Valdez and Reyes (1991) was used, adapting it to the Brasilian sample, with good results. By means of factor analysis with varimax rotation, differences in the structure and content of the self-concept of both samples were found, as an effect of culture. Thus, it was ratified that Mexican subjects tend to perceive themselves as more obedient-affiliative and respectful of norms, while Brasilian ones seem to be more expressive-affective, rebellious and assertive. | |
