This paper introduces the use of Petri Nets as a modeling and analysis tool for animation environments. Firstly, the original formulation for Petri Nets is applied in two animation situations, one modeled as a state machine and another exploring interdependent transitions. Increasing the complexity level, some modeling extensions are discussed and more sophisticated animation examples are studied. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
