dc.descriptionThe potential applications of X-ray magnetic scattering techniques to probe microscopic magnetic properties at the Brazilian National Synchrotron Light Source (LNLS) are revisited and discussed. The source, optics and experimental station of a magnetic scattering beamline at the LNLS are described. First preliminary experiments at LNLS bending magnet sources demonstrate the importance of introducing focusing optical elements to make feasible X-ray magnetic scattering experiments at LNLS. Spectral flux calculations of insertion devices demonstrate the potential perspectives of a wiggler beamline for soft X-ray resonant magnetic scattering at the LNLS compared to other synchrotron radiation facilities. © 1999 Trans Tech Publications,.
