Resumen
In this article, we introduce a skewed version of the sinh-normal distribution and discuss some of its properties. In addition, we characterize an extension of the Birnbaum-Saunders model associated with this distribution from a probabilistic viewpoint along with a lifetime analysis based on its hazard rate. Finally, one of the proposed models is applied to air pollution data in order to illustrate its usefulness. 39 3 426 443 Azzalini, A., A class of distributions which includes the normal ones (1985) Scandinavian Journal of Statistics, 12, pp. 171-178 Balakrishnan, N., Leiva, V., López, J., Acceptance sampling plans from truncated life tests based on the generalized Birnbaum-Saunders distribution (2007) Communications in Statistics-Simulation and Computation, 36, pp. 643-656 Balakrishnan, N., Leiva, V., Sanhueza, A., Cabrera, E., Mixture inverse Gaussian distribution and its transformations, moments and applications (2009) Statistics, 43, pp. 91-104 Bebbington, M., Lai, C.-D., Zitikis, R., A proof of the shape of the Birnbaum-Saunders hazard rate function (2008) The Mathematical Scientist, 33, pp. 49-56 Birnbaum, Z.W., Saunders, S.C., A new family of life distributions (1969) Journal of Applied Probability, 6, pp. 319-327 Chang, D.S., Tang, L.C., Reliability bounds and critical time for the Birnbaum-Saunders distribution (1993) IEEE Transactions of Reliability, 42, pp. 464-469 Christensen, R., (1997) Log-Linear Models and Logistic Regression, , 2nd ed.
