Resumen
Recent technological advances in medicine have provided substantial cooperation in the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of diseases. The technique of flow cytometry is widely used in Hematology, Oncology, Immunology has become increasingly important in obstetrics and gynecology. In this paper we present an overview of the topic, operating principles and the history of flow cytometry, as well as key applications of cytometry in women's health. After an extensive review performed in Medline, Lilacs, Embase (key words: Gynecology, Obstetrics and flow cytometry) as well as sites and textbook on the subject, concluded that flow cytometry is a modern technique, practice, but high cost that allows analysis of multiple cellular parameters simultaneously and in a few minutes. Have a potential application in gynecology and obstetrics and deserves the attention of professionals to be implemented in daily routines. © Copyright Moreira Jr. Editora.
