dc.descriptionIn this work we report results from the study of the atomistic aspects of the elongation and rupture of Pt NWs using real-time atomic-resolution transmission electron microscopy (dynamical HRTEM) and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. We have observed the formation of suspended linear atomic chains (LACs) for all crystallographic directions investigated with the probability of LAC occurrence following the sequence [110], [100], and [111]. © 2009 Materials Research Society.
