Resumen
The present work reports preliminary results of producing a silica-titania optical fiber preform with heavy TiO2 doping up to 12 wt % by using the vapor-phase axial deposition (VAD) technology. Such a heavy doping is suitable for producing optical fibers with high refractive index up to n ∼ 1.50 in order to improve the performance and sensibility of Fresnel-based refractometer sensors for on line fuel identification and quality control.
