dc.descriptionDeveloping countries usually face problems to break digital divide, because personal computers still present high cost. The Brazilian analogical television system reaches-nowadays more than 95% of the population. If the analogical system is converted into a digital system, this should include most of the country in the technology era. Aiming this goal, Brazil is studying the Japanese ISBD (Integrated Service Digital Broadcasting) Digital Television System (DTV) standard looking forward to a system that improves the quality of the reception, number of channels, among other technology issues. Beside that, the Brazilian government, through Decree 4901/2003 proposes the DTV as a social program of digital inclusion. This paper presents preliminary results found during the development of an educational game for DTV. The game intends to offer the possibility to insert challenges and educational content that will be presented through the speech of a game character. Developing educational games using the DTV platform should allow new pedagogical strategies that can be used by teachers. Students will associate the educational content while interacting with the game characters and solving exercises.
