Resumen
Surgical reconstruction of the knee posterior cruciate ligament (P.C.L.) still remains as a major therapeutic challenge. In this paper, we assessed 30 patients submitted to surgical reconstruction of the P.C.L. with a technique of tendinous graft fixation on tibial bed by direct approach ("INLAY"). Twenty-eight male patients and 2 female patients, with mean age of 31.10 years, participated on the study. The average injury time was 34.24 months. In 67% of the cases, injury was secondary to motorcycle accidents. Chondral injuries and knee anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries were present in 67% and 33% of the cases, respectively. Patients were assessed objectively (posterior drawer test) and subjectively (Lysholm's Scale). Mean post-operative follow-up time was 21.7 months. About 66% of the cases were rated as good and excellent at the subjective and objective evaluation. The statistical analysis showed a similar behavior for both evaluations. Post-operative clinical outcomes achieved in this study have encouraged us to keep using this surgical technique. 14 2 92 96 Girgis, F.G., Marshall, J.L., Monarem, A.R.S., The cruciate ligaments of the knee joint: Anatomical, functional and experimental analysis (1975) Clin Orthop, 106, pp. 216-231 Parolie, J.M., Bergefd, J.A., Long-term of non-operative treatment of isolated posterior cruciate ligament injuries in the athlete (1986) Am J Sports Med, 14, pp. 35-38 Logan, M., Willians, A., Lavelle, J., Gedroyc, W., Freeman, M., The effect of posterior cruciate ligament deficiency on knee kinematics (2004) Am J Sports Med, 32, pp. 1915-1922 Pearsall, A.W., Hollis, J.M., The effect of posterior cruciate ligament injury and reconstruction on meniscal strain (2004) Am J Sports Med, 32, pp. 1675-1680 Clancy, W., Shelbourne, D., Zoellinger, G., Treatment of knee joint instability secondary to rupture of posterior cruciate ligament (1983) J Bone Joint Surg Am, 65, pp. 310-322 Keller, P.M., Shelbourne, K.D., Mc Carroll, J.R., Retting, A.C., Non-operatively treated isolated posterior cruciate ligament injuries (2004) Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc, 12, pp. 420-428 Clancy, W.G., Repair and reconstruction of the posterior cruciate ligament (1998) Operative Orthopedics, pp. 1651-1665. , Chapman M, editor.
