dc.description | (A) We arrived at the following conclusions after re-examination of Centauro-I: 1. The original upper-lower correspondence is not correct, 2. There is no shower (or only one) in the upper which corresponds to the shower-clusterin I12, though the event passed through the upper chamber, 3. The showers in I12 are described by a number of C-jets, nuclear collisions of hadrons in the in the target layer. (B) Then the features of Centauro-I are summarised in the following way: (1) A number of hadrons (more than 28), incident upon the chamber, are not accompanied by (e, γ)'s, (2) These hadrons cause no nuclear collision in the upper chamber (7.8 cm Pb), but produce 28 C-jets in the target layer (23 cm Pitch). Comparing the above features in the present report with those in the original report, mentioned in the first paragraph in Sect. 1, one can see that important points, such as multiple hadron production emission of (e, γ)'s and strong penetration of the primary particle into the atmosphere are not necessary to be modified while the production height and pT are unknown in the present report. Furthermore we add another new feature, (item (2) above), which is quite exotic for or dinary hadrons. We will propose a model to describe the present features of Centauro-I elsewhere.[4] (C) Ref.[3] proposes that Centauro-I is described by an ordinary atmospheric family which was produced (10 - 80) m above the chamber and passed through a gap between the emulsion chamber units in the upper chamber. As discussed in Sect. 3.3.(2), we have shown by simulation that such a possibility is quite low. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. | |
