| dc.description | The study retraces and discusses Sergio Miceli's contribution to the sociology of intellectuals. The hypothesis is that despite the focus in his research on the internal elements in intellectuals' strategies for insertion, Miceli leaves the tension open in the assumption of autonomy in an intellectual field and its relations with the broader social process. We highlight his proposal of biography as the analytical locus, discussing (1) the ambiguities deriving from the lack of distinction between biography as a source and as a method, (2) the class-based nature of his sociology of intellectuals, and (3) the emphasis on the heterogeneity underlying the macro-sociological categories. We discuss other views that compete with Miceli's perspective and argue for a new understanding of ideas as reflexive social forces and as part of the agenda in contemporary sociology. | |
| dc.description | Dans cet article, on reprend et discute la contribution de Sergio Miceli à une sociologie des intellectuels. On part de l'hypothèse que, malgré tout son intérêt pour les recherches sur les éléments internes des stratégies d'insertion des intellectuels, l'analyse de Miceli ne parvient pas à envisager l'autonomie d'un champ intellectuel et de ses rapports avec le processus social plus large. On souligne sa proposition de biographie en tant que locus analytique, en examinant 1) les ambiguïtés issues du manque de précision entre biographie comme source et comme méthode, 2) le caractère de classe de sa sociologie des intellectuels et 3) l'accent mis sur l'hétérogénéité sous-jacente aux catégories macrosociologiques. À la lumière des perspectives qui concurrencent celles de Miceli, on suggère une nouvelle compréhension des idées comme forces sociales de réflexion et comme élément d'un programme de la sociologie contemporaine. | |
