| dc.description | Introducción: El sistema de triaje reduce gastos, además de alivianar la carga de pacientes de los servicios de emergencia, este proceso se basa en priorizar la atención del paciente, guiándose en la gravedad al momento de su valoración.
Objetivo: Analizar la situación de la atención en la implementación de triaje, en el servicio de emergencia pediátrica del hospital “José Carrasco Arteaga”. Cuenca 2013.
Metodología: Es un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo revisando historias clínicas virtuales alojadas en el sistema AS400; del Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, durante el periodo Enero - Junio 2013, evaluando el tiempo de espera real con el tiempo adecuado mediante su diagnóstico y gravedad.
Resultados: La media de edad de los pacientes se ubicó en 5,02 años con un DE: 4,1 años; el sexo masculino representó el 55% del total; el nivel de gravedad 5 fue el más numeroso con el 59,6% observándose una tendencia decreciente para los demás niveles de gravedad hasta llegar al nivel de gravedad 1 con el 0,3%; Según niveles de gravedad el tiempo de espera para recibir atención fueron: nivel I=16,67 minutos; nivel II=35,41 minutos; nivel 3=42,41 minutos; nivel 4= 45,92 minutos y nivel 5= 45,08 minutos.
Conclusiones: Para los pacientes con niveles de atención 1 y 2, los tiempos de espera superan el mínimo recomendable colocando en riesgo su salud, pudiéndose evitar estas situaciones mediante un sistema de triaje en el servicio, por lo que se propone un plan de trabajo para su implementación.

| dc.description | Introduction: The triage system reduces costs and also lowers the number of patients in the emergency rooms. This process is based on prioritizing the attention where the medical severity of the patient should serve as a guide at the moment of giving importance to their care.
Objective: To analyze the situation of the care to be able to implement for the triage in the emergency service of pediatrics in the hospital “Jose Carrasco Arteaga” Cuenca 2013.
Methodology: It’s a descriptive and retrospective study that revises clinical and virtual medical records that are in the system AS400; from the hospital Jose Carrasco Arteaga during the period of January-June 2013, evaluating the real time of waiting with the appropriate time through the diagnosis and medical severity.
Results: The average age of patients situated itself at 5.02 years of age with a standard deviation (STD): 4.1 years of age; the level of medical severity 5 was the most numerous with 59.6% observing a decreasing tendency for the other levels of medical severity arriving therefore to 1 with 0.3%; based on the levels of medical severity the waiting times to receive care was of: level 1 = 16.67; level 2 = 35.41 minutes; level 3 = 42.41 minutes; level 4 = 45.92 minutes and level 5 = 45.08 minutes.
Conclusion: For patients with levels of care 1 and 2, the waiting periods are over the minimum recommended placing them at risk in health, being able to avoid situations through a system of triage in the service, for which a plan of work needs to be implemented.
