Resumen
The objective of the present research work was to verify the variation of the lead concentration in synthetic water by using the sugarcane bagasse prepared through modification as absorbent aterial. The work consisted on filtering lead contaminated water through layers of absorbent material, some samples with their corresponding repetitions were taken at certain times during he process. The absorption process was carried out by gravity filtration, in which the independent variables were studied: the amount of absorbent biomass, contact time, and the dependent variable: response to the absorption capacity. The obtained results indicate that during the treatment there is lead removal of 0.299 mg/L, 0.302 mg/L, 0.295 mg/L, at different contact times uring one hour with intervals of 20 minutes with doses of 600g of bio absorbent material. By means of a statistical analysis SPSS, it was determined that there is a significant difference (p‹0.05) in the lead bio absorption with a certain amount of biomass; this is, the removal potential depended on the absorbent material, obtaining lead concentration removal percentages of 76.14%, 68.51% and 69.27% in concordance witch the time. As a conclusion, the use of sugarcane bagasse as absorbent material for lead concentration removal is a reliable method due to at the first 20 minutes it had the capacity to remove an important percentage of lead; also, it was evidenced that time influences in the reduction of lead concentration because as time passes by there is variation in lead reduction but is stabilizes subsequently, so it is applicable for any treatment. It is recommended the design of pilot plants for metal ions removal by using sugarcane bagasse due to it demonstrated a great absorption capacity with the objective of carrying out the process on industrial scale.
