Abstract

Use of different types of pasture of the Amazon in the feeding of guinea pig during the stage of growth and fattening In the Experimental Station Pastaza of the Faculty of Animal Science of ESPOCH, we evaluated the finalization of different types of pasture of the Amazon in the feeding of guinea pig during the stage of growth and fattening, we worked with 4 treatments, consisting of: T1 (micay grass and concentrated), T2 (elephant grass and concentrated), T3 (star grass more concentrated), and T4 (grass micay, elephant grass, star grass and concentrated), under a completely randomized design (DCA), in combinatorial arrangement of two factors. We used 64 Guinea pigs of the improved line with 4 replicates and the size of the experimental unit of 2 animals per place. The productive behavior of guinea pigs fed with pastures of the Amazon did not represent significant differences for any of the studied variables. Nevertheless, a better response was observed with T4 in terms of final weight 1103,81 g; weight gain 720,44g; better food efficiency 6,02; weight to channel 742,38 g; yield to channel 67,76 %; and the best Benefit/cost f 1,14 dollars. There were no significant differences in the sex factor. For that reason, the use of the pastures of the Amazon did not influence the behavior of the livestock. In such a way, the use of the grasses is recommended: micay, elephant star more concentrated in the feeding of the guinea pigs in the stage of growth and fattening
