dc.description.abstractThis research is a descriptive study, no experimental but transversal and was applied in families with boys and girls from 2-5 years in the Flor de Blanquito premises parish Plan Piloto, involved 25 families with boys and girls from 2-5 years of years. In order to investigate the situation of food security, it was study variables such us: general characteristics of the community, health situation, nutritional status of boys and girl’s mothers and food situation, using a structured interview. The main economic activity of the community is under-employment and agriculture; regarding the situation of boys and girls are presented: ADDs (acute diarrheal diseases), parasitosis, HRIs (high respiratory infections), and dermatitis.92% of families own homes at medium risk; to assess nutritional status, children and girls as indicators, P//E 52% normal, T//E 36% mild chronic malnutrition and P//T 52% normal, and mothers as BMI 60% are overweight. By analyzing the food situation from production to consumption was found that the food they grow and breed animals are intended for marketing and consumption. According to the availability of food in the home was found that 40% of households own an unsafe home; the overall quality of the diet 46% of families are malnourished, and finally felt vulnerability of food security lies 64% of families in mild food insecurity.
