Resumen
In the “Procuy” farm, located in the Chantilín parish, Saquisilí canton, province of Cotopaxi, the use of Arachis pintoi flour (10, 20 and 30%) to feed guinea pigs during their growth and fattening stages, were evaluated 80 guinea pigs of a superior breed, 40 male and 20 female of 21 days of age. It applied a completely randomized design (DCA) in a combinational arrangement of two factors with 5 factors per treatment. The Tukey test was used to compare the results. The best production results were obtained by employing 30% of fodder peanut flour with a total weight of 1250,44 g; a weight gain of 789,09 g; food preservation of 5,65; carcass weight of 895,75 g and carcass yield of 71,63%. According to the gender factor, the males to be superior in relation in to the females. The interaction analysis determined that the male guinea pigs with a level of 30% of fodder peanut flour presented the best production results. The highest profits in the evaluated stage of this livestock, were obtained with 30% of fodder peanut flour reaching a benefit/cost of 1, 27. Therefore, the peanut fodder flour did not alter the production parameters of the guinea pigs. Consequently, the use of 30% of fodder peanut flour is recommended due to it registering the highest production performances as well as the best benefit/cost ratio in the feeding of guinea pigs during their growth and fattening stages.
