Resumen
This research aimed at applying a linear programming (LP) model for the resource
optimization and the simulation at a small dairy farm in the province of Chimborazo. Dairy
cattle nutritional requirements and feed were analyzed. To establish indicators affecting milk
production, surveys were applied; the results were as follows: type of grass, nutrients and
balanced feed and ancillary feed. Different types of grass were combined with ancillary feed
to develop the linear programming model and its simulation. A maximum production was
gotten by combining three types of grass (ray grass, bluegrass and clover) with the
nutritional complement finding decision variables. Also, the slack variables as missing and
remaining of nutritional requirement indicators were analyzed. Las Silvanitas farm located in
Cebadas parish in Guamote Canton was chosen to validate this investigation. The hypothesis
was proven using Chi square. The result of the calculation was 13.29 using Chi square and
the one obtained in tables was 7.81. Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected. We
recommend applying this linear programming model, since the variables will be identified to
optimize the milk production in small dairy farms in the province.
