Resumen
The objective of this research was the implementation of a system of control and signals
acquisition with free hardware and software to determine its applicability in the industry. The
executed project consisted of carrying out an analysis of the behavior of an automatized
hydraulic press using proprietary and free technology; whit this, it is possible to demonstrate
that the system of hardware and software allows companies to have leading-edge technology in
their production plants, which adapts its necessities and evolving according to future
requirements due to the implementation cost is low. The automatized system consisted of
analogic and industrial digital sensors and actuators using on one side the proprietary system
controlled by a Programmable Logical Controller (PLC S7-1200) of Siemens and user interface
based on LabVIEW through an OPC server; on the other side free system controlled by a
Programmable Logical Controlled (PLC M-DUINO) based on Arduino, monitored through a
Web Service System hosted in a LAMP server. It is determined that the free system provides
better performances due to it does not require special libraries for compatibility of sensors and
actuators of differente brands and its cost of implementation on ten times less than the
proprietary. It is recommended to use correctly the Arduino Platform and the LAMP server.
