The objective of this present investigation was to determine the relation between the level of knowledge, attitudes and practices on hypertensive disorder during pregnancy in women of reproductive age. A descriptive-correlational study was carried out and the target population was the study universe consisted of 45 women aged about 15-49 from the “Palmira Dávalos” community, Guamote Canton, from January to June 2016. The data were collected through a survey with a questionnaire validated by a group of experts. The Chi-square was applied to determine the relation and significant differences between the variables of study with a level of significance of 0.05, as well as the statistical package SPSS version 21. The results were: women aged 20-29 predominated (33,3%), women with elementary education (46,6%), single women (51,1%), evangelical women (77,7%), housewives (46,6%), women without personal pathological records of hypertensive disorder during pregnancy (82,2%), women without familiar pathological records of hypertensive disorder during pregnancy (57,7%). The 100% of the population had unsatisfactory knowledge about hypertensive disorders during pregnancy, the 95,5% had positive attitudes towards preconception risk, and the 53,3% had adequate practices of self-care. It was not found an association statistically significant between the variables of study. It is concluded that the knowledge in women of reproductive age is not satisfactory, but almost all of them have positive attitudes and more than half have adequate practices of self-care. The design of a strategy of educative intervention about hypertensive disorders during pregnancy is correct to prevent maternal mortality and morbidity.
