Resumen
The objective was to design an educational intervention strategy on the risks of Sexually Transmitted Infections. A descriptive-correlational and cross-sectional study was carried out in the community of Chancahuán, Colta canton, Chimborazo province from January to June 2016. An interview was made with 75 inhabitants as a universe, between the ages of 20 and 49 years. The technique of data collection was a questionnaire validated by a group of experts. Data were analyzed with SPSS 17 and Chi-square test was used for testing between groups. The level of significance was 5% (p<0,05). The results showed that the men age of the study group was 34 years, with a predominance of women (57.3%), primary (58.6%), married (76%), and Catholics (64%). The level of unsatisfactory knowledge prevailed at 88%. A statistically significant relationship was found between the level of knowledge and the level of education (p = 0.03). It is concluded that the knowledge of people aged 20 to 49 on Sexually Transmitted Infections is unsatisfactory and is related to sociodemographic characteristics. Therefore it is recommended to implement the strategy of educational intervention designed on the risks of sexually transmitted infections, aimed at obtaining a final desired behavior through timely, effective and effective prevention.
