Resumen
The research describes the design and making of an intake manifold for a Formula SAE race car based on its own policies and regulations. We present the design and making of each element based on analysis of results obtained using Finite Element Method. We worked on analysis of pressure, velocity, density, and fluid´s turbulence circulating by the intake pipe in solvers CFD, using a quality mesh in order to determinate the best design for each element which will work of torque´s limitations, and will maximize caused restrictions. The most important analysis is: restrictor analysis, where we try to reduce pressure drop, and “Pleno analysis”, where its geometry and dimensions will be really important to get more velocity of its entrance of fluid, and decrease of pressure for determinate size. The design of the body of acceleration, and admission pipes, we do it based on calculations, trying them can achieve enough efficiency according to the elements. As a result we got a multiple of admission of mass flow of 0,044kg/s, and an volumetric efficiency of 89%, standards that shows unwanted limitations, produced by the restrictions, besides its construction is very possible, because we are using native materials, and it is really cheap. Finally we got multiple of admissions, with a volumetric efficiency, and performance, we fulfill all requirement for this race.
