Resumen
The current research contains real, reliable and technical information about the radial drill at the Mechanics Faculty Basic Workshop applying CAD/CAM technology, this drill had several damages due to the lack of maintenance for more than seven years, this did not allow guarantying the practical activities fulfillment within the planned time with the resources offered, in this way it will be possible to develop skills on students in a theoretical and practical way. The CAD/CAM-based design and construction is a discipline in charge of the computing systems as a supporting tool for all the processes involved in the design and construction of any type of product. The ABC Critical Matrix- based radial drill current status diagnose took into account four selective aspects and seven directive parameters which reflect the existence of six main failures which make the drill not to work as expected. Once the molding and simulation of the piece were carried out through CAD/CAM systems the manufacturing in conventional machines was carried out guarantying the total work of the radial drill so that it will benefit the Industrial Engineering School and its students to significantly reinforce the academic formation to be up to present exigencies of the industrial area in our country. It is concluded that the wear of the machine was due to the use of it, so it is recommended to implement a preventive maintenance plan to improve the maintenance management taking into account the necessity to carry out a failure statistical register for an efficient control.
