Resumen
On the farm "Teresita de Jesus" located in the parish San Juan, Canton Riobamba, Chimborazo Province, the effect of a forage mixture ( purple alfalfa + ray-grass ), was evaluated and concentrated, mestizos in feeding guinea pigs during the growth stage – fattening, guinea pigs using 24 male cavies and 24 female guinea pigs of 15-days old with an average weight of 374,79 g, with three replicates per treatment and an experimental unit 2 animals; to be distributed under a complete block desing random combinatorial arrangement . The experimental results were subjected to analysis of covariance between the initial and final weights ( without being influenced statistics), analysis of variance differences (ADEVA): and mean separation through Duncan Test. Determined that with the use of treatment (70% of forage mixture + 30% concentrate) best final weights (985,92 g), weight gain (637,33 g), weights to the channel (721,42 g), and feed conversion were achieved 11,57; So much for the treatments, as the sex of the animals was determined that male guinea pigs improvement final weights (1006,29 g), weight gain (631,88 g) the carcass weights (749,46 g), and feed conversion of 11,63 compared to females without whose food intake is increased, also featuring lower production costs and greater economic profitability (B / C 1,44).
