Resumen
This research has been based on the design of a ladder frame for bus chassis in order to know the feasibility for its national production, it was necessary to use SolidWorks for its design and modeling taking into account the maximum width and length of the bodywork based on 1323, 2205 and 1668 INEN norms. Then it was necessary to analyze the loads supported by the body frame due to the chassis standardized components weight and the framework, passengers and trunks loads resulting in a gross vehicle weight of 17 000 kg. In addition a chassis supply and demand study for bus chassis collecting the sales data of Asociación de Empresas Automotrices del Ecuador and the body work production during 2014 was carried out. The available raw material in the country was rated as well as the elements coupled to the frame to get the final price. The results obtained through Ansys reflect a safety factor of 1,7 for urban buses and 1,5 for inter-provincial buses. The Von Misses equivalent is 165 MPa and the maximum deformation is 8,36 mm for the most extreme load. These data are obtained from a model designed with ASTM A36 U iron profile with 235 MPa (influence). The feasibility study determined that the chassis frame and the standardized elements are similar in price to the chassis available in the market.
