dc.description.abstract | The construction and implementation of a mechanical spoon for the grey cast iron in the casting workshop of the faculty of Mechanics of Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo, takes as a purpose to improve the transport and emptying process, which will allow doing internships of casting in quick and safe way for the students. With the help of a computer tool of design and modeling of mechanisms, the planes of the mechanical spoon and the technical specifications of materials were obtained for their construction. For de building of the mechanical spoon, the processes of cutting, rolling, turning, milling and welding were applied as important operations. The assembly of the components is made by welding the transmission shafts in the side of the conical container, the ball roller bearings are placed and these are joined to the lifting structure, the speed reducer is installed in the right shaft, the angular gears are mounted to the speed reducer, finally the transmission hand wheel is placed. The machine is built largely by parts of own development because they are not obtained on the market. In the process of control and safety of assembled elements the functioning test was carried out with a load of 530 kg where the machine fulfilled with all the parameters established in the design stages, the selected transmission system was suitable because it allows spilling the cast material quickly and safely, the weight to bear the mechanical spoon overcomes the raised expectations. | |
