Resumen
Malnutrition-hospital research - ELAN Ecuador: Provincial Hospital Teaching "Delfina Torres Concha" Esmeraldas. Province of Esmeraldas 2011, was conducted to determine the prevalence of malnutrition and its determinants hospital sociodemographic, clinical-surgical, hospitalization and quality of care provided. The study was a non-experimental design transversal, he had a sample of 150 patients over 18 years with a longer hospital stay to 24 hours and an open and definite diagnosis medical history, for participation patients gave their written consent . For statistical analysis the JMP version 5.1 program was used; measures of central tendency and dispersion were used. Data were collected through two forms: a) Nutrition Survey Hospital and b) Subjective Global Assessment Survey. As a result 42% (63) patients with moderate malnutrition and 3.3% (5) with severe malnutrition was established. 55.3% (83) patients received an acceptable quality of care and 12% (18) poor care. In this study group was no statistically significant relationship between subjective global assessment and variables such as age, sex, education and socioeconomic status, hence the need to assess the nutritional status of all patients without discrimination of socio-demographic type was found. From these results it is concluded that the hospital intra malnutrition is present in hospitalized patients despite their sociodemographic conditions, therefore it is recommended that through education and / or training of health personnel of this institution is achieved include assessment of the state nutritional within the comprehensive clinical evaluation of the patient.
